Revising vocabulary words for spring

It’s good for students to learn vocabulary. Words that are important in the four seasons of the year. It will help them talk about the season tomorrow and so they will become more fluent in speaking the target language. Plus, it’s just a fun topic to teach. If you want to know how to best teach vocabulary, then check out this article on my blog.

Practicing words associated with springtime in a fun way is easily done with games. Below I will tell you why each game helps revise spring vocabulary words with pictures!

Memory

I love memory games! Memory asks students to find the matches between the spring season vocabulary words and their pictures. Each turn, a students gets to turn over 2 tiles. If they are a match, the students gets to go again. If they are not, the next student is up. Whoever ends up with the most tiles at the end, wins the game. Dominoes

Dominoes is much the same in that it also asks students to find matches. In this game, students do get to see all the tiles. Each tile has a picture on the left side and a word on the right. It’s important to find the tile that has the picture that matches the word on another tile. They then have to be connected. This goes on until all the tiles are connected in a large circle or square. Other fun ways to practice spring season vocabulary words

Boom cards

I created a set of interactive BOOM™ cards with questions about the meaning of spring words. Students instantly get feedback on whether their answer is correct and they can advance to the next card; or whether their answer is wrong and they must choose another. Click here to grab them!

Idioms worksheet

Teaching idioms is really fun to me too, because I think this helps students understand the target language better. How fun is it to hear them use idioms? This worksheet is all about spring-themes idioms. Grab it by clicking here!

Task cards

Task cards are another way to create movement for students. Each of these task cards contains a question about spring vocabulary, and students have to answer them on a recording sheet. The task cards must be spread across the room, so that students really have to physically walk to the next question. Much more fun than a worksheet! Click here to check them out!

So those are the ideas I have to study spring vocabulary words with students! GIve them a try!
